Over the years, Gardenware has provided high-quality garden tools for novice and advanced gardeners all throughout Australia. As our business expands, we hire contractors all over the world to help us with our day to day operations. To maintain the quality of our service, we find the need for our contractors to understand our target market and this led us to “Julie”.
“Julie” is made up persona based on the qualities of our customers. We created a bubbly and caring character that enjoys gardening and cooking using fresh ingredients from her garden.
What is “Julie” Like?
Julie has two kids. Both have left home to pursue their careers and to start their own families. She lives by herself but her daughter and grandson would often visit. On these visits, Julie spends quality time with her 3 year old grandson by doing arts and crafts. They would usually use these creations as centrepieces for her garden. Julie believes that it is important for young kids to understand the concept of growing your own food.
Julie is a primary school teacher, which she has been doing now for almost 30 years. She works at the local state school teaching the grade threes, and runs the school community gardens and holds workshops for the kids. Julie also does some lectures and speaking engagements outside of the school teaching communities and inspiring individuals to use gardening as a means to achieve better nutrition and promote stronger bonds within the community.
Julie spends two to three hours in her garden whenever she can. She grows lots of edible plants and fruit bearing trees. Her garden is an edible forest, packed with different layers of plants, trees and herbs. It is teeming with life and a home for insects and birds. Sometimes little critters come by to pay a visit. She grows a lot of fruits and vegetables but is particularly proud of her heirloom tomatoes.
Julie is a passionate cook. She loves to make her own recipes and share them with her friends. She would often research online to add new flavours to her cooking. She seldom goes out for groceries. She can basically get everything she needs from her garden to make a delicious meal. Sometimes she would invite friends over to have lunch. Other times she brings food to her daughter and grandson who live nearby.
We also created “Dan” and “Katie” to add diversity. Dan and Katie love to garden. Dan is a tools guy and won’t mind paying extra for a high-quality garden tool. Katie on the other hand is an amateur gardener who sees gardening as a way to reduce her stress levels.
Say Hi to “Dan” and “Katie”
Dan is 30 years old. He was into the real estate business before but found it stressful. He decided to quit his job and create a slower pace of life for himself. Now he helps his brother run their furniture business. He loves building things and has finally had the chance to pursue his passion.
Dan loves growing his own vegetables. Whenever he has the time, he researches organic gardening. Dan wants to have a sustainable life that allows him to eat fresh organic food without having to buy it from the farmers market. Dan loves his tools. He is very particular with the quality and the make of his tools and is willing to pay more just to have a good garden tool that will last for years. For him it is worth the investment.
Dan has advanced skills in carpentry which allows him to create practical DIY garden features. He will sometimes use scraps of wood or metal from their shop and make a functional garden feature. He sometimes puts this feature on display in their shop but most often than not, it ends up in his garden.
Katie on the other hand is a novice gardener. She lives in the city just two blocks away from a local state hospital where she works as a nurse. During the first few years of her career as a nurse, Katie started a study that takes on gardening as a means to improve the health condition of elderly patients. In her study, she found out that gardening does not only help elderly patients increase their muscle strength and dexterity but also helped patients reduce their stress levels.
Understanding the value of gardening in reducing stress, Katie decided to have her own garden at home. Limited space has been one of the main problems of urban living. She doesn’t have a lot of space to grow her plants. There’s not even a patch of land in her apartment. This made her decide to grow plants in pots instead. She tried growing herbs in pots but wasn’t successful. She had her fair share of challenges and little successes in gardening.
These challenges however don’t have any effect on Katie’s dream of growing her own vegetables and herbs. She believes that in time, she will be growing different types of herbs, tomatoes, beets, and other veggies to supplement her groceries.
